Before anything else existed, God was (Psalm 90:2). At some point He chose to create—heavens, earth, and people. Colossians 1:16 says that by Christ all things were created, visible and invisible.

This lesson asks why. Scripture’s answer is that God created so that He would be glorified, and so that He might have a family. Creation lets His mercy, love, justice, and power shine forth. Understanding that purpose clarifies the direction of our lives.
